Non-Discriminatory Policy
Elim School of Ministry admits Interns/Students of any race, color, gender, or nationality and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to Interns/Students at the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, or national and ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies, admission policies, and other school-administered programs.
Absences
Class attendance is essential for effective learning. Failure to follow absence and attendance policies could lead to failure of a course and/or dismissal of Elim School of Ministry.
- Interns/Students will be expected to attend all classes unless prevented by illness or emergency.
- Interns/Students may not miss more than 2 classes per Core course, whether excused or unexcused, and will have to re-take the course as an Independent Study Course. If an Interns/Students’ absence is unexcused they will lose all points for that class. If a Weekend Intensive Seminar is missed the intern will be required to take the course as an Independent Study Course.
- Three occasions of arriving late for a class or leaving early from class will count as one absence, whether excused or unexcused. If an intern misses fifteen minutes or more of class, it will constitute as an absence. Interns/Students are not permitted to leave class before it is dismissed.
- An intern is considered Tardy if not in the appropriate classroom at the official start of class.
- For Core courses, a grade of “F” will be assigned to Interns/Students who fail to attend class the minimum number of hours.
- Any intern exceeding the maximum number of absences may only appeal to the Dean to have the grade of “F” changed.
- For every absence Interns/Students must fill out a Request Form prior to the absence for Elim approval and records. In the event of an emergency absence, Interns/Students must submit a Request Form the next day they return stating classes missed. The intern must also contact their professor and/or Supervisors to let them know of the absence as well. Request forms turned in more that one week after the intern returns to school will not be accepted no matter what reason, and the intern will get a “0” for that class.
- The same policy applies for a tardy. The intern must submit a Request form after a tardy has occurred to see if it will be excused.
- If an absence or tardy was unexcused the intern will lose all points that could have been earned for that class for that day. Interns/Students and instructors are notified whether the absence or tardy is excused or unexcused, until the Request form has been filled out and approved the intern automatically receives a “0” for that class.
- Interns/Students will receive a Thanksgiving Holiday and Christmas Break. Full Time Interns/Students will receive five vacation days, three sick days, and one Sunday off without having to lose points.

- 1 inch margins (top, bottom, left, and right)
- Consistent with other requirements of the Turabian Manual (will be provided to all Interns/Students)
- Title page, endnotes/footnotes, and bibliography pages cannot be counted toward the required length of the paper
- Maintain high standards of moral and ethical conduct*
- Gain the required number of credit hours with a passing grade on all assignments
- Complete all the requirements of the Elim School of Ministry Interns/Studentship and Life Experience courses
- Must make at least a 2.5 overall GPA, and a passing grade on all Core courses (at least a D or above)
- Pay all outstanding tuition, fees, and penalties 21 days before the Interns/Students’ graduation date
Course Policies
Papers:
All reviews/reaction/summary/research papers, theses and dissertations must be prepared in accordance with the Turabian Manual for Writers (ISBN#0226823377). Specifically, Elim School of Ministry requires that all work submitted meet the following standards:
Academic honesty:
Most of the grades given in Elim are based on the honesty of the intern. It is assumed that all Interns/Students have such a relationship with God that they would not want to dishonor Him, by being manipulative, deceitful, or dishonest. Interns/Students are expected to not lie or cheat. Interns/Students who break this standard will be subject to removal from Elim, and disciplinary action will be taken on a case by case basis. It is not expected that Interns/Students be perfect, but it is expected that they be honest.
Policy on Research and Plagiarism
Plagiarism is to steal and pass off as one’s own or us use without crediting the source. While fully supporting the use of tools, reference works, the internet and other available media, Elim School of Ministry requires that all of the work submitted by Interns/Students for grading and evaluation be the result of their own writing efforts and creative processes. We encourage you to use all information available for the purpose of supporting your work; however, you must clearly identify quotes and excerpts as the work of another author, and properly cite the source.
Interns/Students should be advised that plagiarism in any form is prohibited, and that work containing plagiarized materials will be returned for resubmission and subsequent work will be penalized accordingly. The Dean is notified whenever an Intern/student submits work for evaluation and grading that contains plagiarized materials. Continued instances of plagiarism will result in academic probation and may lead to other disciplinary measures.
Independent Study Courses
In the case that a intern fails a course they will be required to re-take the course to complete their degree program and graduate from Elim School of Ministry. The intern will be required to pay for the course as stated in Tuition and Fees in this catalog. The course will be taken as an Independent Study course. The intern will be distributed a new syllabus, with new assignments for the course as specified by the Dean. The Dean will also assign the intern a deadline to complete the course in. Interns/Students will be required to use the time outside of their normal Elim scheduled classes, intern areas and activities to complete these courses.
Extension
In the rare event that an intern needs to request an extension on an assignment(s) a written request must be sent to the Dean at least two weeks prior to the due date. The extension may be granted due to an individual intern’s current circumstances that are out of the intern’s control. It will be at the Dean’s discretion whether to grant an extension and for the length of the extension. In the event of an emergency that is less than two weeks from the due date, the intern should request a meeting with the Dean to discuss the possibility of an extension. Interns/Students may not request an extension more than twice a year.
Priority
Whether you are a Full Time or Evenings intern, it is important to set a sound, disciplined schedule. Don’t neglect your personal prayer and devotion time and family life, but seek balance with your studies, ministry, and family. Interns/Students will be expected to schedule around all scheduled Elim classes and activities, but will be offered adequate vacation days and excused absences. If you are struggling with this balance and would like counseling contact the Dean’s office.
Confidentiality
Elim School of Ministry protects the confidentiality of the education records of current and former Interns/Students. This policy is in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERRPA), as amended.
At the discretion of Elim School of Ministry directory information may be released, including only: intern name, address, birthday, address, telephone number, major field of study, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and participation in specific ministries. However, Interns/Students may request withholding this information by notifying the Elim School of Ministry office in writing.
Interns/Students wishing to review their financial or academic record should make an appointment with Elim Program Director, where they will be provided with the opportunity to inspect and review the information contained in their records with the exception of the following: confidential letters and recommendations associated with admissions, or education records containing information about more than one intern, in which case the institution will permit access only to that part of the record which pertains to the inquiring intern.
Transcripts
A transcript contains all essential academic data such as the courses, grades, credits awarded, degree, and graduation date. When all coursework has been completed and all financial obligations are fulfilled, 1 unofficial transcript will be given at no charge to the intern. If the intern would like to request any additional copies the fee is $5 for each transcript, and should be requested by contacting either Logos Christian College or Elim School of Ministry directly.
If an intern would like to request an official transcript from Logos Christian College or Elim School of Ministry for the purpose of sending to another institution, college or employer the fee is $8 for each transcript sent. This can be requested by contacting either Logos Christian College or Elim School of Ministry directly. An official transcript has the seal of Logos Christian College/Elim School of Ministry, date, and an authorized signature from the President. Neither official nor unofficial transcripts will be issued for an intern who has failed to meet all his/her financial obligations.
Graduation Requirements
Interns/Students are expected to make a certain grade point average in order to graduate from Elim. These requirements are designed to challenge Interns/Students to achieve new levels of spiritual, mental, social and physical maturity. While staff will hold them accountable to these requirements, it is ultimately up to the intern to commit to live honorably before God.
To qualify for graduation and degrees, an intern must:

*The staff, faculty, or any other appropriate persons may at any time advise the President that a intern evidences spiritual, ethical, emotional, psychological, or attitudinal deficiencies which in the judgment of the faculty disqualify the intern for continued enrollment at Elim School of Ministry. The intern may appeal this determination to the President. The decision of the President shall be final.
